Rethink won more medals than the next two agencies combined at last night’s Lotus Awards, celebrating the best in BC advertising.
The final tally is impressive— seven Gold medals and 23 Silvers representing work for 22 different clients. Rethink showed up in virtually every category and medium— from online and design, to print and broadcast.
We had more reasons to celebrate than simply winning medals, though. It was Rethink’s turn this year to run the event— with co-chairs Ailsa Brown and Rob Tarry and a dozen other Rethinkers serving on the Lotus Committee.
ACDs Bob Simpson and David de Haas were charged with the overall creative theme for the show, which was a not-so-subtle parody of the upcoming Vancouver Olympics. This included the creation of life-size Lotus mascots (Tokie, Boozah and Kaffee), as well as anthems for every winning agency.
Social media was a big part of promoting the show, with a Games of the Lotusiad Facebook page, plus a Kaffee fan page. Twitter was also used to promote the show, as well as a contest to caption fictional product ads created for the Games.
