Canada’s most innovative QSR opened a “Root Brewery” in Winnipeg to celebrate the new recipe for their signature root beer, now using real cane sugar and all-natural flavours.
Rethink collaborated with Evoke, a premier restaurant design company, and the interior innovators at MakerHaus to set up an authentic craft brewery experience in Winnipeg, Manitoba, A&W’s original home in Canada. A&W Root Beer was flowing from the taps for two solid days, serving over 2,000 mugs of frosty root beer, in a space designed for conversation and maximum root beer enjoyment.
We invited celebrity chefs, brewmasters and foodies, challenging them in a brew-off to recreate the iconic taste of A&W Root Beer using the same simple ingredients. The brew-off featured tastemaking influencers like beer brewer Steph Jones, local TV celebrity chef Jeremy Senaris,, and craft beer podcasters Craig “Cee” Thorn and Tiffany Alexis.
“Our customers told us that they want food and beverages made with natural ingredients, and we’re taking big steps to make it happen,” said A&W Canada’s Senior Director of Marketing and Brand Communications, Tom Newitt. “We’re proud to introduce A&W Root Beer crafted with natural cane sugar and all-natural flavours, which is another first for fast food in Canada.”
